This postoperative binder ‘black’ is designed to be worn after a mastectomy (breast removal surgery) and is therefore suitable for safe binding. It is worn to apply pressure to the surgical area. The compression ensures that the skin remains tightly against the breast tissue, preventing fluid buildup and promoting proper healing. This can help reduce swelling, support wound healing, and stabilize tissue. Specifically for mastectomies, this postoperative binder can help support the chest area, keep any drains in place, and provide comfort during the healing process.

Wearing a postoperative binder is usually recommended by medical professionals as part of postoperative care, and the duration of wearing it can vary depending on the type of surgery and individual recovery needs.

This binder has been deemed safe by:

  • The plastic surgeon at Radboud UMC Nijmegen
  • Drs. Van Loenen – Plastic surgeon, Medical centre Bloemendaal

Due to the front closure with Velcro, the binder is easy to open and close. With three vertical strips of Velcro stitched on, the binder can always be fastened at the correct compression level.

What is the postoperative binder ‘black’ made of?

  • Material of the binder: 80% cotton, 15% polyester, 5% elastane
  • Material reinforcement: 95% polyester, 5% elastane
  • Washing instructions: Wash at 40°C, suitable for the dryer

So, you wear soft cotton against your skin and hardly any polyester! The edges of the binder are trimmed with stretch bands, ensuring it almost always fits perfectly. The binder is made of 80% cotton, allowing the skin to breathe well. The binder contains 5% elastane, including at chest height, so it always has a bit of stretch. A good binder for safe binding!
