Necklace ‘lesbian tag’

This ‘lesbian tag’ necklace is a beautiful piece featuring the colors of the lesbian flag. It’s a stylish and subtle way to express your sexuality or support the lesbian community. You can also wear it simply because you love the colors or because it matches your outfit. :)

The flag consists of different shades of pink, orange, and white, with each color holding its own symbolic meaning:

  • Dark pink (top): Represents gender and sexual diversity.
  • Light pink: Symbolizes femininity.
  • White (middle): Represents the unique relationship between femininity and gender independence.
  • Light orange: Stands for community and compassion.
  • Orange: Represents courage, independence, and strength of will.
  • Dark orange (bottom): Symbolizes the connection to femininity and love for womanhood.

The origin of the flag:

The first attempt to create a lesbian flag was the labrys flag, designed in 1999 by Sean Campbell. This flag had a black background with a double-sided axe (labrys) in the center and a white triangle. The labrys is a historical feminist symbol used by the Amazons, but the flag was never widely accepted.

In 2010, the “lipstick lesbian flag” appeared, featuring seven stripes in various shades of pink, red, and orange, along with a red lipstick print. This flag was intended for lesbians who took pride in their feminine appearance, but it was seen as too limiting for butch and gender-nonconforming lesbians.

The current pink-orange flag is a simplified version without the lipstick symbol, designed to be more inclusive of all lesbians, regardless of gender expression. Over the past few years, this flag has gained popularity and is often used as a symbol of lesbian pride.
